Free DoC Quick Check: is your EU Declaration of Conformity complete?

Answer 16 questions about your declaration and see which elements are missing, with what to do about each. It takes about three minutes and runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded.

This is a self-assessment of the document's form and content. It does not check your product or confirm that it complies with EU law.

  1. 1. Is the document an EU Declaration of Conformity issued by the manufacturer, not a test report or a laboratory "certificate"?
  2. 2. Does it carry a unique identification of the product (product, type, batch or serial number)?
  3. 3. Are the manufacturer's name and full postal address stated?
  4. 4. Does it state that it is issued under the sole responsibility of the manufacturer?
  5. 5. Do the model numbers on the declaration exactly match the product label and your listings?
  6. 6. Does it list the EU directives and regulations that apply to the product?
  7. 7. Are only current acts cited, with no repealed ones such as 2006/95/EC, 2004/108/EC, 1999/5/EC or 2006/66/EC?
  8. 8. Does it avoid legislation that does not apply, for example the LVD for a battery-powered product, or the LVD and EMC Directives next to RED?
  9. 9. Are the harmonised standards listed with their year and amendments (for example EN 55032:2015 + A11:2020)?
  10. 10. Do you have test reports (or other evidence) for every standard listed?
  11. 11. If a notified body was involved, are its name, four-digit number and certificate stated? (Answer "yes" if none was required.)
  12. 12. Are the place and date of issue stated?
  13. 13. Are the name and function of the signatory stated, and is it signed?
  14. 14. Is the declaration available in the languages required by the EU countries where you sell?
  15. 15. Is an importer, authorised representative or responsible person established in the EU named on the product, packaging or accompanying document?
  16. 16. Is the CE marking on the product (or its data plate) in the correct proportions and at least 5 mm high?

Does the Quick Check tell me whether my product complies?

No. It is a self-assessment of your declaration's form and content based on your own answers. It does not examine your product, your test reports or the document itself, and it cannot confirm compliance.

Is anything uploaded or stored?

No. The checklist runs entirely in your browser. Only if you ask us to email you the result do we receive your email address and your answers, to send that one email.

What is the difference from the paid check?

In the paid check (€99 per product, excl. VAT) a certification expert reviews your actual declaration against the EU legislation and standards that apply to your product and sends a written report with every finding and how to fix it, within 48 hours.
